About the Role: Coordinator Tree Maintenance
Join Baw Baw Shire's Infrastructure Maintenance team as the Coordinator Tree Maintenance, where you'll lead the strategic development and implementation of policies and procedures for managing the Shire's tree assets. Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Maintenance, you will oversee all tree maintenance services across the municipality, ensuring safety, compliance with relevant regulations, and the ongoing health of Baw Baw's urban tree population.
In this pivotal role, you will manage tree maintenance crews, contractors, and other service partners, while providing expert advice to various internal and external stakeholders. As Council's Principal Arborist, you will be responsible for ensuring the Council's statutory obligations under application regulations are met, developing long-term tree management programs, and contributing to broader infrastructure planning across the Shire.
You will play a key role in leading a cohesive and high-performing team, motivating staff to achieve outstanding results while maintaining a focus on community satisfaction and environmental sustainability.
About the Successful Applicant
To succeed in this role, you will bring substantial experience in arboriculture or horticulture, particularly in urban tree management. Your qualifications will include a Diploma of Arboriculture (or equivalent experience), along with a deep understanding of arboriculture practices and legislative requirements.
You will be a strong leader, skilled at managing teams and contractors, with a human-centric approach to leadership that fosters collaboration and high engagement. As a confident and precise communicator, you will easily navigate complex issues, providing clear advice to both internal teams and external stakeholders. Experience in developing and implementing tree management policies, assessing risks, and overseeing tree maintenance programs is essential. A proven ability to provide strategic advice on arboriculture issues and ensure compliance with regulations will be key to your success in this role.
A current Victorian Driver's Licence is required, and experience in local government or a similar environment will be highly regarded.
