Your role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital To facilitate the St John of God Subiaco Hospital accreditation and licensing requirements and to provide direction and support to the hospital and its caregivers in the areas of clinical risk management, clinical incident reporting, clinical auditing and quality improvement.
The Position: Liaise with caregivers and medical practitioners to promote awareness of the quality improvement cycle and foster a culture of openness within the organisation.
Support the integration, maintenance and development of the SJGSH quality and risk program.
Assist in maintaining the electronic incident management system for SJGSH, ensuring measures and outcomes are appropriate.
Provide oversight to the clinical audit program at SJGSH, ensuring databases and systems are in place to effectively manage audit data.
Provide information to key stakeholders to allow informed decision making on key concerns identified through the electronic incident management system and audit findings.
Carry out statistical analysis of data generated by audit and establish an appropriate format to present the data to relevant parties.
Participate in Benchmarking Activities and provide assistance in producing action plans to generate performance improvement.
Participate in relevant committees, working groups and Specialist Audit meetings, reporting and providing relevant data that provides information for improvement activities and projects.
Liaise with the Manager Quality and Risk, assisting with ongoing achievement of the Hospital's external certification programs, including; National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards (NSQHSS), Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS), Licensing and Regulatory Unit (LARU) and Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).
In consultation with the Manager Safety, Quality and Risk, and via the HMC, assists with external reporting requirements, including notification to the Patient Safety Surveillance Unit (PSSU) and Licensing and Regulatory Unit (LARU).
In consultation with the Manager Safety, Quality and Risk, provides the HMC with regular feedback on accreditation processes and quality improvement progress via reports and at departmental meetings.
Develop and maintain a SJGSH Register of Quality Improvement Activities in accordance with the SJGSH Quality Improvement Framework.
Provide oversight to the maintenance and distribution of relevant Legislative Updates and/or Operational Directives, ensuring incorporation into policies and procedures as required.
Train and develop the Safety, Quality and Risk team, to facilitate a continuous performance improvement culture.
In partnership with the Manager Safety, Quality and Risk, liaise with necessary parties, including SJGSH caregivers, in reviewing significant incidents requiring Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and assist in developing and implementing system improvement initiatives.
All other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager Safety, Quality and Risk.
You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and have extensive experience in accreditation, quality improvement and clinical risk management in a healthcare setting.
To succeed you will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate an understanding, knowledge, expertise and achievement of accreditation and private hospital licensing requirements.
