We provide high quality day to day care for children and young people and to contribute to overall support for recovery from trauma, development of emotional regulation, resilience, self-esteem and self-efficacy.
About the role: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Coordinator, Residential Care for a Full-Time position working 38 hours per week based at our Gold Coast service.
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and support a dynamic team, enhancing your leadership skills and broadening your experience in a vital area of our organization.
The overall purpose of the Coordinator, Out of Home Care is to provide quality guidance, direction, and supervision to a team of Youth Workers oversee the provision of the therapeutic care for children and young people who are on Child Protection Orders and for various reasons are not able to live with their own family.
Responsibilities: Ensure effective communication between team members, particularly during shift changeovers.
Provide regular supervision for the Youth Workers and liaise regularly with the other Coordinators including on-call requirements.
Responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of the team including staffing rosters, appointments, and meetings.
Lead the team in planning, implementing, and evaluating strategies in relation to the young people's needs and behaviours.
Ensure all documentation is accurate, relevant, and completed or submitted within the expected timeframes.
Coordinate review or case plan meetings with the Department of Child Safety and other service providers and communicate regularly, as required.
Ensure young people within the program are safe and well cared for and that legislative standards and requirements are met.
Encourage self-awareness of how personal values impact the children being cared for and ensure staff are promoting pro-social behaviour.
Provide and support staff to teach the children and young people resilience and living skills appropriate to their age and ability.
Support the child or young person in the transition to and from Children, Youth & Families Out of Home Care programs, ensuring their emotional needs are met throughout the process.
Ensure domestic duties are kept to a high standard, assist staff when necessary and encourage children to participate.
Adhere to the Anglicare Children, Youth & Families petty cash procedure and maintain accountability.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements Degree in Health, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role) Current National Police Check Current Blue Card Current Licenced Care Service (LCS) Current Queensland Driver Licence Ability and willingness to travel within the service region.
Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required.
About You: An understanding of the needs of children in care - including child development and behaviour, family dynamics and the effect of grief and loss on a child.
Applied knowledge of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including the Child Protection Act (1999) and relevant legislation.
Well-developed practice framework that is culturally sensitive.
Ability to manage and provide effective team leadership and supervision.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills, particularly in crisis situations.
Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Accreditation in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TC, Cornwall University) (desired).
