Remuneration:

Annual salary commencing at LG07 - $111,424 to LG08 - $122,408, depending on qualifications and skills, plus up to 13% superannuation.

Role Overview

The Coordinator Quarry Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting all operational areas of Council in the planning, coordination of material resources including internal and external quarries and pits. The role supports the Manager Operations Roads and Drainage in providing a complete quarry operations function to support the whole of Council and maximise the efficiency of material sourcing, production and allocation through effective procurement, planning, management with a focus on continuous improvement and customer service, and supports or fulfills the obligations of the appointed Site Senior Executive (SSE) in ensuring all safety, environmental and legislative requirements are met in council's quarries and pits. Extensive experience in the management of plant and materials used in the civil construction industry. Extensive experience in risk, environmental management, and health and safety management. Experience in the management and operations of quarries and pits. Experience in the production and transport of materials, including programming and scheduling. Demonstrated ability in leadership and management of teams. Demonstrated experience of working in a team environment, and autonomously to achieve the best outcomes. Intermediate computer literacy and experience in using handheld computer devices. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, keen attention to detail and advanced planning and organisation skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to implement and foster a customer service culture. Knowledge of contract management, plant hire, procurement and profit. Current and maintained Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence. Construction Industry White/Blue card.

Criteria for Appointment Site Senior Executive (SSE)

Mining Supervisor - G1, G8, G9 and Risk Facilitator - G2. Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations. Competency in Site Senior Executive (SSE). Deliver the endorsed objectives and targets for the Unit as outlined in the Corporate Plan, Operational Plan, Business Plan, contract documentation and Staff Development reviews. Manage the planning and delivery of Unit activities in line with Legislation, Council's Policies, and Procedures to mitigate non-compliances. Coordinate and lead the Quarry Operations team and subcontractors in day-to-day operations. Coordinate internal and external materials to maximise efficiency and productivity, and to monitor and report on utilisation. Coordinate and monitor Council gravel material sources (internal and external). Manage the procurement and contractual arrangements for quarry operations. Investigate and report on incidents related to the activities of the unit and prepare reports for internal and external plant. Analyse costs, utilisation, productivities, current market rates and trends to achieve best financial outcomes for Council. Report on key deliverables for the team as directed. Discharge the obligations as the appointed Site Senior Executive (SSE), or support the appointed SSE in ensuring all safety, environmental and legislative requirements are met in council's quarries and pits. Manage the team's activities in line with Legislation, Council's Policies, and Procedures to mitigate non-compliances. Provide technical support with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, risk management, environmental management and continuous improvement. Liaise closely with all areas of Council in delivering a responsive service that satisfies Gympie Regional Council's Customer Service Standards. Exercise sound judgement, initiative and confidentiality including an ongoing review of business systems and processes within the unit as part of a continuous improvement process. Foster a positive relationship with all key stakeholders. Support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment, which fosters creative problem solving and shared learning. Maintain a positive organisational image, which promotes good customer relations and maximises the provision of a high level of service to enhance the customer experience.
