Government - Local (Government & Defence) In this role, you will lead a team of place activation specialists to drive both short-term activations and long-term strategies that transform key places across the municipality, with a focus on Central Geelong.
You'll develop and implement place visions and plans in close collaboration with stakeholders and the local community, ensuring outcomes reflect the needs and aspirations of the area.
As the main contact for the Revitalising Central Geelong Partnership (RCGP) and other key place-based projects, you'll oversee the City's contributions, negotiate on its behalf, and ensure projects align with broader community goals across Greater Geelong.
Key responsibilities include: Develop and implement a place vision and activation strategy for central Geelong and key local activity centres including leading trader and community engagement.Facilitate new business opportunities in key activity centres and provide ongoing business and trader support.Motivate the team to deliver on the strategic goals, by translating and making the goals accessible and relevant to the team members for operational success.Motivate and provide strong leadership to the Business Unit by fostering an inclusive, customer focused, results driven and accountable culture.Play a lead role in the planning, quality control, facilitating and asset logistics of place activations in central Geelong and local activity centres.Develop and deliver the unit's annual Business Plans in line with the Directorate's Strategy; balancing value for our community and customers, within the financial and resource constraints.About you To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated strong people management skills, with the ability to support, influence, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
A tertiary qualification in Planning, Urban Design, or other relevant discipline and significant professional experience in Placemaking or other relevant field in a comparable organization.Demonstrated experience in mid-level management and/or leadership roles.Demonstrated people management skills to support, influence, and foster a productive team environment.Well-developed writing, presentation, and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and achieve support for objectives.Well-developed problem solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build cooperation and partnerships.Highly developed research, analytical and project management skills and demonstrated success in delivering effective project outcomes.Working with Children Check.If this sounds like the role for you, then click apply now!
