Personal Advocacy Service is an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.
Personal Advocacy Service (PAS) was established in 1989 in response to parents who were seeking ways to enrich the lives of their sons and daughters with intellectual disabilities. PAS's goal included providing opportunities to be included in community life and valued for the contribution they could make to the local communities. Today, PAS's work is to develop supportive Catholic communities to ensure people with intellectual disabilities have a sense of belonging, make connections, have an opportunity to contribute and grow their spirituality.
ABOUT THE ROLE - A SNAPSHOT Free onsite parkingWarm and welcoming environment3.5 days of additional paid leave over ChristmasOpportunities for professional development and faith formationJob Summary: As part of the Personal Advocacy Services team and reporting to the Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the mandates are carried out smoothly & efficiently, alongside implementing the work of PAS - developing and supporting Catholic parish communities to provide people with intellectual disabilities a sense of belonging & opportunities to make social connections.
Key Responsibilities: Operations Management Oversee the day-to-day administrative function of the organization, including day to day office managementEnsure that agency is compliant and accountable to Archdiocesan policies and procedures, Safeguarding mandates; and regular audits (including Financial, NDIS and NDAP)Regular reporting to Head of Mission Enhancement and OutreachFinancial Operations Prepare an annual budget and participate in forecasting, costing, reporting and submissions to Archdiocesan Finance teamMonitor income and expenditure against budget predictions and report variances to the Archdiocesan Finance team and Committee of Management (CoM) on a timely basis.Personal Advocacy Program Development Review & update strategic plan with Committee of ManagementCollaborate with Archdiocesan Agencies to provide support to parishes in welcoming people with disabilities into the life of the Faith community.Develop, adapt and update Enrichment Modules for Volunteer Leaders and Training Modules for Advocates.Ensure the SPRED program and agency outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities are consistent with the values and objectives of PAS and of the Catholic EthosWorkplace Capacity Develop a diverse and capable team aligned with the Church's mission and Agency MandateRegular reviews of the PAS workplace environment - including making sure staff are aware of Archdiocesan policy & updatesOversee recruitment, supervision, appraisal & coaching of staff - including VolunteersDevelop succession planMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshopsCommittee Of Management Attend all CoM meetings, providing a written report on the operations of the AgencyAdvise the CoM of any duty of care and risk management issues including all staff, volunteers or clientsIn conjunction with the Chair, prepare and circulate the agenda for the Committee meetingsEnsure minutes of meetings are distributed to membersStakeholder Management Collaborate with Archdiocesan agencies and attend Archdiocesan sponsored events including professional development and faith formation opportunities and social networking occasionsRepresent the agency at community forums and conferences (i.e. CCSWA, CEWA, WACOSS and Disability WA)Minimum Qualifications: Experience in working with and/or supporting people with disabilitiesAbility to direct and lead a community organizationWorking knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic Church and its teachingsMinimum 2 years of experience in a similar roleExcellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated organizational skillsCritical analysis skills and resourcefulness in problem solvingDemonstrated experience in the development and implementation of training modulesExperience in leading teamExcellent oral and communication skillsDemonstrated experience with NDIS & NDAP FundingKnowledge of funder-service provider relationshipsExperience in DSS liaison and reporting requirementsClear understanding of NDIS regulatory framework.Experience in submission and grant writingAbility to oversee and manage financial affairs of the AgencyStrong skills in MS Office SuiteCurrent working with Children CheckCapability to successfully apply for NDIS workers clearanceValid National Police ClearanceExperience working in a Catholic organizationFurther studies in the areas of Religious Education, Special Needs Teaching or Pastoral MinistryExperience in the development of sustainable community groupsExperience in supervising or coordinating the work of volunteersPersonal Qualities Understanding and commitment to the principle of Catholic Social Teachings and Gospel values that underpins the PAS Missions through increased stakeholder engagement and volunteer growthPassion for improving the lives of People with Intellectual Disability through the Catholic faithWillingness and capacity to support the Catholic EthosHOW TO APPLY Submit your current resume and a cover letter on SEEK by no later than Thursday, 19 December 2024.
