About the role This is a permanent full-time position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at the Shoalhaven Water Depot, Nowra.
This position is responsible for the supervision, monitoring and control of operations of Council's Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant, associated Wastewater Pumping Stations and Wastewater gravity network.
Duties Reporting directly to the Wastewater Operations Manager, the focus of this position is to:

Ensure Wastewater Treatment Plants follow and meet relevant Environmental Protection Licence conditions.
Lead day-to-day operations of the Northern Wastewater Team.
Ensure processes, systems and protocols are in place for the Wastewater Treatment Operations compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies.
Provide response to reactive maintenance duties and customer requests, including a 24/7 emergency response (on-call) on a roster basis.

It is a requirement of this position to be available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime.
Skills & Experience To be successful in the position, you will have:

Possess a Diploma in a relevant field of study (Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate V), (e.g. Wastewater Treatment and System Operation or Trade Certificate).
Current MR Truck Licence
Current NSW General Construction Induction card (White card)
Current SafeWork NSW Confined Spaces Entry Certificate
DCCEEW – Part 1 Basic Wastewater Treatment Operations
DCCEEW – Part 2 Advanced Wastewater Operations
Knowledge of the Protection of the Environment Operations (POEO) Act and National Health & Medical Research Council (NH&MRC) guidelines as they apply to the water industry.
Expert knowledge and technical competence in water and/or wastewater infrastructure operations or similar industry.
