A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support the whole of Council. The incumbent will have lead accountability for the management accounting function including the preparation and adoption of the Annual Budget. It requires strategic analysis of economic factors such as prices, wages, and interest rates and the updating of Council's 10-year Long Term Financial Plan.
Leadership and management are prime functions of the role which involves providing guidance, support, feedback, coaching, and training to staff development to ensure their continued development. The position provides strategic advice to all Council departments relating to budgeting, planning, and finance-related issues.
A little bit about you
We are looking for someone with substantial and demonstrated experience in the development of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning and analysis. You have the ability to prepare and analyse statements of financial performance, financial position, and cash flow from source data.
Your superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to write concise and clear management accounting reports analysing the financial performance of the organisation for Council and Executive management are an asset to this role.
You are a true leader who can coach and gain cooperation from operating department managers and mentor and lead a team with continuous improvement. A Chartered Accounting or Certified Practicing Accountant accreditation is required.
