Mackay Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Coordinator Land & Cultural Heritage.
About this opportunity: In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing relationships between Council, the community, and other key stakeholders in relation to Council-owned or controlled land.
Additionally, you will lead the coordination of Council's engagement with First Nations people, ensuring compliance with Native Title and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage obligations.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage interactions with internal and external stakeholders to resolve land access matters, leasing enquiries, and land-use issues. Oversee the management of cultural heritage requirements across various Council projects and related activities. Collaborate with First Nations communities to maintain respectful and productive relationships in line with legislative obligations. Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Possession of a valid QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence (or equivalent, with the requirement to transfer interstate licences within three months of commencement). Extensive experience in leading and managing a team of professionals. Established expertise in negotiating and overseeing land management or cultural heritage obligations. Desirable: Formal qualifications in Business, Management, or related fields that support the Land and Cultural Heritage team's operations. Experience in managing land and cultural heritage responsibilities within a local government context. Significant experience collaborating with First Nations and other community groups. In addition to the above, we also offer the following benefits: Base annual salary of $107,820.56 Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply). Choice of 4 or 5 weeks' annual leave with 17.5% leave loading. Flexible work arrangements with an RDO.
