This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2024 Canning College has been a leader in international education since 1982. For more than forty years, the college has delivered specialised education programs and support services designed to meet the unique needs of international students studying university pathway programs. In 2024, domestic student enrolments were reinstated for Years 10, 11 and 12, enabling local students to complete their senior secondary education in an international study environment.

The Coordinator – International Operations coordinates the delivery of services and recruitment activities of the Canning College International Office. The coordinator works collaboratively with key stakeholders in the international education sector both in Western Australia (WA) and overseas to plan, develop and implement strategies to recruit international students for Canning College. This includes promoting Canning's signature and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) university pathway programs to potential students, both directly and via the college's agent network.
The coordinator's responsibilities include liaising with key government agencies and stakeholders, private sector organisations, educational institutions, agents, students and WA government personnel to position Canning College as the preferred study choice for senior secondary international students. The role involves building and maintaining an effective agent network that complies with the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 and providing advice to prospective international students and training for agents in relation to course choices, career pathways, and English language and visa requirements.
The Coordinator – International Operations works in close collaboration with the college Administration, Marketing and Admissions teams to provide specialised market knowledge and to manage applications and post-application admissions and visa issues. The coordinator supports, monitors and manages the college recruitment team including staff performance.
The successful applicant should display the professional knowledge and experience to coordinate Canning College's international operations to a high level of effectiveness and to grow student enrolment numbers. This involves sound knowledge and understanding of the university pathway programs Canning College offers international students, and of the Department of Education (WA), State, Federal regulatory frameworks and policies within which the college operates.
As the role involves representing Canning College in offshore markets and leading, reviewing and planning college international recruitment activities, the successful applicant will ideally have the flexibility and keen interest to travel overseas. They should also possess the high-level interpersonal and negotiation skills required to engage confidently and productively with a broad range of stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds, including students, parents and agents. They will display the ability to maintain and develop the productive relationships the college has established with education partners including WA universities and English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers.
The successful applicant should display effective communication skills and the ability to build, lead and manage a high-functioning international operations team. Working individually and in collaboration with others in international student recruitment, the successful applicant will ideally display high level analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions.
