The role Reporting to the Manager Financial Strategy, you will lead and support a team of 8 accountants and finance officers.
As an integral part of the Finance Strategy team, you will oversee the City's Financial Accounting, systems accounting (Technology One) and external financial reporting requirements to ensure the delivery of high quality customer focused services.
You will also coordinate the recording and reporting of the City's Infrastructure, Property, Plant & Equipment within the financial ledger, support Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement acquittals and estimates, lead the development and implementation of continuous systems improvement and lead engagement and coordination of the external audit process.
About You To be successful in this varied position, you will have extensive experience in Financial Accounting with substantial knowledge and experience in the application of contemporary accounting and financial management principles and practices including understanding financial standards, legislation and regulations to produce annual financial statements.
You will have strong leadership experience with the ability to support a large team of staff, together with strong project management, communication and decision making skills.
If you hold formal qualifications in Finance or Accounting or have specialist Local Government experience, we welcome your application.
Being a current member of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent is desirable.
A satisfactory police records check is required for this position.
