Coordinator Coastal Management

Details of the offer

Fraser Coast is home to Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the Great Sandy Strait, 115,000 residents, a thriving mixed-business economy, and enjoys a year-round mild climate making it an ideal coastal destination. Realise your sea change dream and live amidst some of Queensland's most stunning natural coastal environments including the World Heritage-listed K'gari (formerly Fraser Island).
The core purpose of this position is the timely planning and delivery of outcomes and initiatives associated with Coastal and Catchment Management. Major components of the role are associated with the management, supervision, and co-ordination of Council's coastal activities and management of water bodies, including stormwater discharges, sand pushes/scraping and maintenance of beach profiles, feasibility studies, concept designs and community consultation.
This role will require you to have demonstrated experience in coastal management and stormwater quality planning, project consultation, policy development and project delivery; along with sound understanding and knowledge of construction practices and procedures, preferably in areas relating to coastal management and stormwater quality infrastructure. A proven understanding and knowledge of environmental and cultural heritage issues, preferably associated with the provision, maintenance, and operation of coastal infrastructure, would be desirable.
Bring your excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to prioritise workloads of yourself and others to meet expectations. You have confidence to tactfully and diplomatically interact with internal and external stakeholders, including state government agencies and first nation organisations, and enjoy contributing to a positive team environment. Having a demonstrated passion to make a positive difference to the community will see you being successful in this role.
A tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7), or advanced studies, in a relevant engineering discipline is essential. Ideally you will have Local Government experience in coastal management, water quality, civil engineering, or equivalent and be eligible for membership to the Institute of Engineers Australia.
An attractive remuneration package is offered for this exciting opportunity to build your career while enjoying a desirable coastal lifestyle - apply now!
