About The Role Operations Services continually invests in the development of its people including those working at the front-line of its mining operations.
Training is an essential element of this including a range of site and project competency requirements, upskilling support and resources for Mastery and the systems required to optimise the value obtained from training delivery and management within Operations Services.
Building and maintaining comprehensive programs for Apprenticeships and Traineeships are key to our business as we continue to skill the workforce of the future.
The Coordinator Apprentice Training role will report to the Lead Apprentices & Training and support with administration, planning, reporting and adherence to governance processes, undertaking tasks including:
Working closely with the Lead Apprentices & Training to understand the requirements for all apprenticeships and ensuring apprentices are supported throughout their program.
Engaging with external Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to ensure records of completion are aligned to nationally recognized units of competency.
Work with Trainers to monitor Apprentice performance against their apprenticeship plans and ensure that all records are managed and Learning Management systems are kept up to date with progress and records of completion.
Create, maintain and review Block Training Plans and work programs.
Initiate, process and finalise all student transitions to site for Certificate II & Certificate III trade graduates.
Active participation, compliance and contribution to the effective operation of BHP's relevant HSE policies and systems.
Ensuring that all statutory compliance is maintained including training systems, programs, content and records management.
Collaborating with training leaders in other relevant BHP groups to enable maximum use of existing training systems and resources.
Continuous monitoring of apprenticeships training services performance and initiating the necessary input or support to ensure these services are achieving their objectives.
Encouraging and leading productive collaboration across Operations Services peer groups through informal processes as well as formal forums and routines.
This is Monday - Friday role based in Mackay.
This is not a FIFO role.
About You The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate the majority of the following:
Experience working in an operational technical environment within mining or heavy industry, particularly in the area of planning staff movements and block training.
Sound skills in Microsoft systems such as Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Familiar with BHP Leaning System systems such as; Canvas, Ready Skills, VETtrak and SAP.
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable).
Comprehensive understanding of VET legislative and internal compliance requirements including exposure to audit processes and governance frameworks.
A continuous improvement focus that identifies opportunities for improving processes, creating efficiencies and designing capability improvement.
High level of interpersonal skills, the ability to build strong partnerships across a range of stakeholders both external and internal, and diversity of thought and practical experience will be embraced.
Willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence, coach and model BHP values and behaviours.
