Cool Off was established in 1982 and has grown to be Australia's leading supplier of pet food ingredients to the domestic and international markets. Our primary capabilities are bare block plate frozen, MDM and meat powders from a wide variety of protein sources.
In March 2024, Cool Off announced the sale of Cool Off Pty Ltd to BHJ in Partnership with the Staughton Family. Cool Off has grown rapidly over the past decade to a scale whereby the global connectivity with BHJ will be fundamental in continuing to service our supply partners as efficiently as possible.
BHJ has a long history as an international supplier of meat and fish raw materials for the food and pet food industries. BHJ is headquartered in Denmark and is a subsidiary of The Lauridsen Group, Inc. (LGI), a US company. BHJ have processing facilities and offices in Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Australasia where we employ a total of more than 1200 employees.

The Role: Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, this dual-purpose role has two main responsibilities: fostering a positive employee culture and contributing to various key People and Culture (HR) initiatives and our Payroll function. Your efforts will be instrumental in aligning the goals and ambitions of our employees with the successful execution of our business strategy and objectives. Duties include: People and Culture Partner with business leaders in activating effective performance development and performance management systems to ensure alignment between individual performance and achievement of our business strategy. Lead the development and implementation of competency-based training (Employee Development Program) and assessment systems across all Cool Off Divisions. Manage and support the Work Cover processes related to Injury Management and Return to Work, liaising effectively with the Return-to-Work Coordinator and Managers. Coaching employees and managers through recruitment, talent management, employee engagement and talent development. Providing timely and accurate employment law interpretation and industrial negotiation advice to managers, promoting harmonious employee relations throughout the organization. Collaborating with People and Culture team members to drive employee engagement initiatives that nurture our culture and enhance the workplace experience. Developing and implementing "fit-for-purpose" HR policies and procedures that promote a clear understanding of critical business compliance and individual behaviour standards. Payroll Process company payroll in Employment Hero on a weekly basis for final approval, ensuring processing is accurate and on time. Processing workers compensation, PAYG payments and superannuation. Verify that all third-party labour hire hours are entered into the system and that invoices reflect the hours worked. Replying to internal and external client queries in a professional and timely manner. Prepare weekly, fortnightly and monthly reports as required. Skills Knowledge and Experience: To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline. 3-5 years HR/ payroll experience with the proven ability to deliver business focused HR services in a timely manner and build strong collaborative working relationships across a range of business areas. Equally competent and comfortable in both the strategic and operational aspects of HR projects and initiatives. Superior attention to detail along with the ability to develop and produce timely and accurate HR reports. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
