Position Details REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a minimum of two (2) years in school food service or three (3) years in a related field.Ability to provide leadership to kitchen staff and to develop a good working rapport with students, staff, and the community.Ability to organize and direct operations and activities of the kitchen.Knowledge of food preparation methods, portion control, proper food handling and storage, inventory control and food ordering.Ability to work independently and make decisions based on established policies and procedures.Knowledge of applicable food safety laws and regulations.Willingness to have a flexible work schedule. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in planning and implementing kitchen operations, using established standards and policies.Prepare food and direct food production.Ensure production records and all issues of compliance are accurate and complete.Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen.Assist with menu planning, recipe development and production evaluation.Assist in food orders and inventory.Maintain high sanitary and safety standards in all kitchen and service areas.Assist with promotions and merchandising of school meals and programs.Attend meetings and/or training sessions as requested by Director of Food Service.Collaborate with Director of Food Service to solve problems concerning food service operations.Perform clerical duties as directed.Perform duties at different sites in the district, as necessary.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service.
