As the Cook, you are responsible for preparing meals, undertaking basic cooking duties, and ensuring the kitchen and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean, and tidy manner.
You will prepare and serve high-quality, balanced meals that meet dietary requirements, and ensure food safety and hygiene standards are upheld.
Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members for smooth service and create a positive dining experience for our residents, contributing as an integral member of the Seniors Living group and supporting activities aligned with the strategic direction of and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.
In this role you will:
Undertake food handling, preparation, and basic cooking duties. Clean and maintain kitchen area, equipment, appliances, utensils, and fixtures in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control processes. Undertake basic record keeping (e.g., number of meals per day, missed meals, fridge/freezer temperatures maintained). Liaise with the Supervisor and/or suppliers regarding ordering and stock control. About you To be successful in this role, you will bring prior experience in cooking for large groups, preferably in aged care or healthcare service. You should have knowledge of dietary and nutrition standards for older adults, and be team-oriented, dependable, and compassionate.
You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you should possess well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills; previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
Essential experience and Work availability include: Available to start immediately, working Monday to Friday from 12pm – 5pm, with aged care experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control, and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen. Minimum one year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment. Pre-requisite Possess a current National Police Check – or the ability to acquire. Possess a current NDIS Worker Screening Check – or the ability to acquire.
