SKILLS The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Cert IV and 12 months of relevant fulltime work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES As the Cook, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the restaurant consistently serves high-quality meals in a timely and efficient manner to its customers. You will work under the supervision of the Chef, assisting in the preparation and production of various food items, including à la carte dishes, buffets, and banquets, following the Chef's guidelines and specifications. Your duties will include ensuring that all ingredients are fresh, properly prepared, and that dishes are cooked and presented according to the restaurant's standards. You will also help maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations.
POSITION DUTIES You will need to undertake the following duties:
Know the proper handling of food, equipment, and utensilsPrepare food according to chefs' specifications and recipesSet up daily mise-en-placeEnsure attractive display of food items, showpieces, etc. on display counters, buffets, or where requiredReceive food checks, event orders and prepare them as requiredClean and maintain your working space, store, equipment, and utensilsCheck the sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, and all pre-cooked and raw items to ensure quality and prevent spoilage giving special attention to all meats and seafood itemsCheck kitchen before service begins, ensuring everything is neat and tidyRegulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipmentSeason food during cookingSupervise and participate in the meal serviceTrain other kitchen staff and apprenticesCo-operate and delegate work in a fair mannerMonitor sanitation practices and follow kitchen safety standardsADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES Knowledge of food-related curriculum and training techniquesWork well in a team environment and communicate clearly with othersUnderstanding of raw materials, quality control and relevant skills for the effective creation and distribution of food productsKnowledge of food preparation regulations and standardsSALARY The salary offered will be $60,000 to $70,000 per annum based on your experience.
