Our client is a well-known consultancy with multiple offices across the globe. As a result of ongoing business growth, they are looking for experienced individuals to join their business to work on their latest major project.
The Role
Working alongside the client's Engineer and Architects, you will be part of a team working on a major project for a client. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of control systems for our projects, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects across various industries, including manufacturing, energy, and automation.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and commission control systems, including PLC, SCADA, HMI, and DCS systems.
Troubleshoot and optimize control system performance for continuous improvement.
Develop and modify control logic, programming, and system configurations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system requirements and specifications are met.
Participate in project planning, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Conduct testing and validation to ensure control systems meet safety and performance standards.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control systems on-site and remotely.
Maintain thorough documentation of control system configurations, changes, and test results.
Assist in coordinating the preparation of project deliverables including documents for various project phases and tender documentation as required.
Supervise the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs of Control System engineering projects and ensure project work complies with conditions and parameters set out in the project scope of works.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Control Systems Engineering.
Proven experience in mining and minerals processing environments.
Demonstrated ability to ensure all Control Systems engineering project activities comply with statutory and regulatory standards, as well as company policies and best practices.
Proficiency in PLC platforms, particularly Schneider PLCs.
Skilled in SCADA/HMI platforms, especially Citect SCADA.
Knowledgeable in process control communication protocols such as Ethernet IP, DNP3, Modbus, OPC, and Profinet.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, testing and validation documentation, commissioning records, and change management documentation.
Proficient in PLC programming, including ladder logic and function block diagrams (FBD).
Experienced in drive interface design, including Variable Speed Drives (VSD), E/DOL, and Soft Starters.
Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues with control systems and industrial communication networks.
Effective team player, able to collaborate with peers and cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
Qualifications:
Experience with specific industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, ANSI, or ISA.
Knowledge of advanced control methodologies (PID, adaptive control, model predictive control).
Certification in control systems or automation (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician).
Experience with cybersecurity in control systems.
