Workfast are looking for qualified Control System Engineers with industrial experience in Townsville, QLD on a permanent basis.Relocation options are available from anywhere in QLD for the right person.Roster: Monday to Friday, with after hours support for major breakdowns or phone calls as required.Our clientYou will be working for one of the largest industrial workshops within QLD. Our client has been in operation for over 20 years, with their goal being the best in the world by being the safest, environmentally responsible and the most competitive.Position Overview:Reporting to the Manager of Electrical Maintenance and collaborating closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer, this role involves developing and executing maintenance plans, preparing work schedules, reviewing work orders, analysing failure trends, and coordinating shutdowns. You'll work with operations and maintenance teams to deliver optimal business solutions, while ensuring clear communication on plant status, key issues, and cost awareness. Monitoring key performance indicators and maintaining critical controls will be a key part of your responsibilities.Key Responsibilities: Ensure electrical equipment maintenance is performed safely and responsibly.Oversee the implementation of electrical projects, including capital, maintenance, safety, and improvement initiatives.Manage the Plant Control System (PCS), including hardware, software, and communication systems.Modify PLC/HMI programs as needed.Manage preventive and predictive maintenance for all PCS equipment.Maintain up-to-date documentation for the plant PCS to aid fault-finding efforts.Investigate root cause of equipment faults and implement corrective actions to ensure system reliability.Provide technical oversight for control system operations.Prepare and present reports on control system performance.Analyze and trend electrical operating data to optimize control systems.Review and approve purchasing requisitions for instruments and controls.Perform program backups and maintain an organized database of programs.Ensure field staff have access to accurate and up-to-date program information.Assist field staff with fault finding.Required Qualifications and Experience:Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field.Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) for control systems.Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in a heavy industry or processing environment.Experience with CITECT SCADA, Concept 2.6, Unit Pro, and Control Expert.Proficiency with AB PLC, Schneider Electric PLC, HMI communications, LV MCCs, motors, instrumentation, PLCs, VSDs, and control system theory.Strong skills in fault finding, root cause analysis, or similar methodologies.Leadership & Safety:As a key player in driving safety performance, you will lead by example and foster a culture of safety excellence.
