The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle mass over 4.5 tonnes. We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 900 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.Great opportunity for a Contracts Specialist to join the team. In this role, you will assist the Contract and Supplier Relationship Manager in delivering and managing best-practice contract management across the NHVR.This role works closely with stakeholders to support contract negotiations, renewals, and dispute resolution, ensuring robust governance, effective administration, and performance management of contracts to maintain compliance with NHVR's policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :Provide expert advice and guidance on contract management, proactively overseeing contract lifecycle activities, including variations, extensions, negotiations, execution, and administration.Offer solutions and support on contract-related challenges, including performance targets, outcomes, and procurement matters, ensuring compliance and optimising contract results.Educate stakeholders on effective contract performance strategies and assist in developing risk mitigation plans.Resolve contract disputes, discrepancies, and compliance issues in a timely, efficient manner.Establish and maintain a centralised contract repository to ensure all contract documentation is accurate and up-to-date.Use contract management data to derive insights, supporting improved decision-making and outcomes.Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of contract-related policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring successful contract delivery.Build and maintain strong, influential relationships with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and partners.Skills and Capabilities :Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and management.A proven track record of providing excellent customer service.Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment.Demonstrated experience interpreting contract terms and conditions and offering advice on contractual risks or potential improvements.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data management.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify contract issues and propose practical solutions.Ability to manage multiple priorities, using project management methodology to deliver results in line with conflicting expectations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management software/tools.Qualifications and Experience :Minimum 5 years' experience in contract management or procurement roles.A degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite.A solid understanding of contract management principles and best practices.What's on offerFull-time, permanent positions based in our Brisbane head office.
