Content Coordinator

Details of the offer

As content coordinator, you are responsible for the commissioning, scheduling and creation of content across our online platforms. You will work with users, contributors and collaborators, and team members as they produce content, and facilitate the publication process in partnership with the Content Team.
The packageFully remote, flexible 32 hour weekFocussed on weekdays and with at least a reasonable amount of overlap with the content team (generally 10:00-17:00 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).$95,000 + super and benefits, read more belowRole DescriptionSchedule, set up files for, and track blog content using our dashboard system.Commission and publish content around significant calendar dates - taking into consideration the interviews that are being published around these dates too. Always keeping our audience in mind.Participate in topic, idea and brief generation with your coworkers in the content team, both individually and in planning meetings and approach writers to commission those articles. Find potential contributors and, in collaboration with the Senior Editor, discern if they will be a good fit for the publication. Approach them accordingly.Assist/liaise with contributors and commissioned writers as they pitch and write content.Discern if a pitch or potential contributor or collaborator is appropriate for the publication, and be able to offer polite but firm rejection when they are not. This may be escalated to the senior editor as required. You may be asked to collaborate on a response with the Senior Editor.Work with team members to outline, produce and/or edit company updates for publication at a regular cadence.Skim read articles received for trigger warnings (for the editors) before it goes to Edit. Flag potentially problematic content with Senior Editor if necessary.Commission illustrations for upcoming series/articles and maintain illustration team.Triage pitches coming through the inbox. Vet new writers before accepting new pitches and assess if they are potential candidates for interviews/series contributions.Assist in hiring and training new team members, as appropriate.You will treat all data with due care. We receive a lot of sensitive information and must ensure that we don't unintentionally breach our users' trust.Interact with users and writers in a way that is encouraging and supportive of their efforts.Ownership of the blog publication schedule. Checking in with other Content Team members regularly and following up on anything that is overdue or doesn't follow our guidelines, whilst maintaining a culture of flexibility and understanding.Be proactive in improving, updating, or adapting our content production procedures as required, checking in with and working with Content Team members to build procedures that function across the team.Keep up with relevant international and local news, within reason, which may impact our industry and/or publishing timelines.Exercise sensitivity when working with marginalized people and critical topics. If you are unsure of the right ways to discuss or approach a particular topic or person, consult with the Content Team before proceeding. Escalating to the Senior Editor or other relevant persons as required.You are empowered to work autonomously, asynchronously, and advocate for your needs. This includes changing task focus, taking breaks and holidays, as well as asking for help and support when you need it.
