As greenfield sites become scarce, there is a need to rehabilitate existing sites for new uses. In dealing with the impact of site contamination while mitigating potential risks to human health and the environment, we are prioritising sustainable long-term solutions.
To support us on this journey, we're looking for a Senior Consultant and a Principal level consultants to join our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team in Southeast Queensland.
We are open to both full-time and part-time arrangements. The role location is flexible between our Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast offices.
What you'll do You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready site investigation, environmental due diligence, portfolio assessment and advisory and remediation planning to help rehabilitate or repurpose existing or derelict mining, petroleum contaminated sites, as well as government sector assets for new uses.
You will balance technical work, staff development and work-winning in QLD, with the support of a well-established multi-disciplinary Environmental services business.
Some of the key projects we've recently been involved in:
City of Gold Coast Water and Waste Partnership – WSP, partnering with Stantec currently service the water and waste panel of works for the City of Gold Coast. This provides significant opportunities for interesting programs and projects such as the infrastructure upgrade projects (investigations and monitoring for key projects including sewage treatment plant upgrades, parks and recreation, road upgrades, waste management facilities), Suitably Qualified Professional roles and expert witness support. Mining – PFAS investigations, complex geochemical investigations, supporting general contamination investigations and monitoring, remediation and supporting Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans for mined land. Downstream petroleum portfolios – CLM QLD services all of the major petroleum companies, providing services such as Environmental Site Assessments, routine monitoring, emergency response services, underground storage tank removal and upgrade works, remediation works and Principal Contracting roles on demolition and upgrade works for service stations, depots and refineries across QLD. About you The successful candidate will be a natural connector and a problem solver with a powerful team spirit and a passion for supporting early career professionals.
You will typically have 7-15 years of experience in assessing site contamination and overseeing remediation programs.
You will also bring the following skills and attributes:
Excellence in client delivery Technical expertise in the Contaminated Land discipline, specifically broad knowledge of soil contaminants, remediation strategies, site sampling technique, investigation and remediation technologies for groundwater, soil and gas, etc. Understanding of local regulations pertaining to the management of contaminated sites Project Management skills Some team leadership experience, including in developing and attracting talent to achieve growth – or a desire to mentor and train junior staff and grow local business About WSP WSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services firms, bringing together approximately 6,000 talented people across 15 offices in Australia.
