South West Healthcare is seeking a Consumer Peer Support Worker in Camperdown to provide recovery-focused support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, using personal lived experience and the Intentional Peer Support Model.
About the role South West Healthcare (SWH) is looking for a Consumer Peer Support Worker to join our Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing team in Camperdown, Victoria.
In this role, you'll leverage your personal lived experience with mental health challenges, including involvement with Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Services and/or the Acute Inpatient Unit (AIU). Through the Intentional Peer Support Model, you will build mutual, recovery-focused relationships that embrace a client-centred approach, fostering hope and resilience.
Your responsibilities will include providing individual consultations, educational sessions, and group interventions to support consumers dealing with mental illness or severe psychological distress. You will promote principles of hope, choice, self-determination, and social connectedness, working under the direct supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
