About the department: Austin Consultation Liaison (CL) Psychiatry service provides a consultation-liaison service for medical and surgical inpatients at Austin Health comprising of the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, and Royal Talbot Hospital. Our service addresses the interface of medicine and psychiatry and aims to improve the quality of care for all patients at Austin Health with co-existing psychiatric, psychological or behavioural difficulties affecting their medical management.
About the role: An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist - Consultation Liaison, who is interested in improving health outcomes across the general hospital setting, to join our Mental Health Division on a permanent basis. We are seeking someone who relishes the complex and rewarding work of a liaison psychiatrist within a multidisciplinary team.
You will be working with a team of professionals to make a difference to consumers impacted by mental health difficulties. Person centred care will be at the core of what you do, and the successful candidate will be guided by the Austin Health values.
About you: A registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP), or equivalent. To be an accredited supervisor for RANZCP training in accordance with RANZCP guidelines. An interest in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry as demonstrated by interest, experience and/or ideally an advanced certificate in CL Psychiatry from RANZCP. Demonstrated experience with a variety of liaison psychiatry settings, including inreach to the emergency department or rehabilitation services where indicated. Demonstrated capacity to build professional relationships between mental health and other healthcare. Demonstrated commitment to improving the quality and safety of patients across a health service and throughout the lifespan (including paediatrics and aged). Demonstrated ability to work with medical and surgical teams to achieve optimal health outcomes for patients of Austin Health. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, training and research.
