Role SummaryWe are looking to bring on a Consultant or Senior Consultant with a focus on – or interest in developing experience or skills in - railway operations for our highly successful national Transport Advisory team based from either Sydney or Brisbane.
These are exciting roles within the Transport Advisory team, contributing to delivery of existing rail operations and strategic projects as well as the development of new work.
With ongoing remits on major projects with support provided by rail operations capability throughout AtkinsRéalis globally - there has never been a better time to join our expanding Transport Advisory team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:Provision of advisory services across light rail, metro, passenger or freight rail, including:Rail corridor and network capacity analysis;Rail operational and infrastructure planning;Rail network simulation;Service plan and timetable development and optioneering;Assessment of network performance, infrastructure and rolling stock options;Development of Concepts of Operations, Concepts of maintenance, network operating plans or concept timetables;Development of fleet, maintenance and stabling plans, and/or traincrew rostering;Operational readiness activities and associated business changes.Contributing to delivery of projects across the whole lifecycle – from strategic demand and operations planning during feasibility studies or business case phase, through development of operational plans and requirements during procurement, and onto delivery and operational readiness.Integrate with project teams and help represent AtkinsRéalis in front of key clients and stakeholders, including transport agencies and railway operators.Opportunities to support the growth of the business with project management, people management and business development opportunities as desired.Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities:Degree qualified in engineering, transport planning or other relevant disciplines.Quantitative and analytically-driven rail performance appraisal and improvement; proficiency with – or interest in and ability to develop competence in – rail operations simulation tools such as RailSys (TM) by RMCon and/or OpenTrack (TM) would be desirable.Proficient in data interpretation, manipulation and visualization – including Highly proficiency in Excel (TM) and/or Matlab (TM), including scripting in VBA to support manipulation of data, including RailML (XML) and GTFS.Ability to manage time and workloads to deliver technical outputs across multiple projects, often to tight timescales.Ability to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists, including writing, drawing and presentation skills.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWe're not all the same and that's our greatest strength and we believe that 'Different Makes a Difference.'
