Barwon Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry (Colac), eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry, and research psychiatry. About the roles
Barwon MHDAS currently has full/part time opportunities suitable for recently graduated or experienced psychiatrists across our service, including: Acute Services (Consultation liaison, Bed based, Hospital in the home and Emergency services). Community Health (including Youth & Adult, Community Intensive Treatment). Specialist departments (including AOD, Therapies and Eating Disorder Programs).
The breadth of positions across the directorate means we can provide psychiatrists with career opportunities and working arrangements that can suit their individual circumstances and professional goals. Key requirements of the role are:
Provide leadership in the provision of high-quality psychiatric services to consumers. Act as a delegate of the authorised Psychiatrist as defined in the Mental Health Act 2022 and contribute to the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program of the service. Applicants must hold the FRANZCP, be accredited as a supervisor by the RANZCP, and be registered with general or specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
