Your role at St John of God Midland Public & Private Hospitals You will be a suitably qualified and experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician and will provide specialist medical services as part of a high-quality, holistic and compassionate patient care team and provide a high-quality diagnostic and clinical respiratory service.
You will also support our Advanced Trainees in General Medical and will review inpatient consult requests from other departments within the hospital.
The Position Provide respiratory services to patients in the public and private wards at the hospital as defined by your scope of practice for Midland.
Undertake clinical shifts as agreed with the Head of Department, including participation in the on-call/after-hours/weekend roster.
Accept appropriate referrals both internal and external to the hospital, in accordance with the hospital's role delineation.
Awareness of indigenous customs and community expectations in considering how best to look after, admit or discharge indigenous patients.
Regular review of patients, together with doctors in training with a focus on quality of care and discharge planning, ensuring that the medical record is accurately updated after each review.
Clinical review and management of patients referred to hospital outpatient services, with a focus on returning the patient to the care of their GP or primary care provider at the earliest opportunity.
Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.
Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.
You will have Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and appropriate training and experience in Respiratory Medicine. Experience in advanced bronchoscopy skills including linear and radial EBUS and pleuroscopy will be highly regarded.
You will demonstrate an ability to work and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary teams and a commitment to the provision of a quality service at a personal and service level.
