The Victorian Heart Hospital will be Australia's first dedicated heart hospital and is nearing its final stages of construction. It will include a full range of ambulatory and inpatient cardiac care, including cardiac theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories and ambulatory services such as cardiac CT, echocardiography and specialist consultation. It will also feature a unique, patient-centred model of care. The Victorian Heart Hospital will also play a key role in advancing research and teaching and will be home to the Victorian Heart Institute, a brand new health and medical research organisation at Monash University.

A day in the life
We guarantee that no two days will be the same.
In this important role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and effective person-centred emergency care, provide teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and students who are undertaking training towards attaining Fellowship of the relevant college. Your clinical shifts will be rostered for 9.5 hours with a variety of start and finish times, with consultant cover provided between 0730 and midnight.

What you bring
Working closely with patients, their carers and families you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
Undertake and develop allocated non-clinical portfolios.
Check and follow up on radiology and pathology reports.
Participate in problem resolution in clinical and administrative matters.
Assist with investigation and resolution of complaints/incidents.
Assist on the ED floor during periods of peak demand/disasters/unexpected staff shortages.
Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill or injured adult patients.
Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the Emergency Unit, Monash Health.
Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees and forums.
Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high-quality accessible Emergency Medicine Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients. Involvement in the development, implementation, and revision of treatment protocols and clinical practices.
