A regional city that offers excellent schools, shopping and cultural precincts, sporting facilities and various tertiary facilities.1 hour 25 minutes from Tullamarine (Melbourne) airport.The local Airport is about to be expanded and currently runs daily return flights direct to Sydney.Large tertiary referral hospitalTOTAL Salary package up to $500,000 The Anaesthesia and Pain Service are seeking to appoint suitably experienced Consultant Anaesthetists who will enjoy a rewarding career through their contribution to a large regional tertiary referral hospital. It has 11 operating theatres catering for all major types of adult and paediatric surgery within the region. Candidates must have extensive knowledge and demonstrated clinical ability commensurate with that expected of a specialist anaesthetist and proven ability to develop and maintain effective service interactions required in the operation of a busy anaesthetic service.
Specialist Anaesthetists provide anaesthesia and related services to all interventional disciplines except Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery and Transplant Surgery.
As this is an accredited training site, the position's responsibilities include teaching of anaesthetic trainees as well as other junior medical staff, medical students, and nursing staff.
In this role, you will provide specialist anaesthetic services, including appropriate pre and post-operative care, within credentialed privileges to patients of the Hospital. As Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be required to provide professional leadership, training, and supervision to doctors in training, other clinical staff, and medical students.
The Anaesthetic Department is accredited by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) as a training site for anaesthetic trainees for up to 12 months of training time who wish to become Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
