About Inland Rail

Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.

About the opportunity

As the Construction Supervisor you will work under the leadership of the Inland Rail Project Management Team in undertaking construction supervision and field verification support activities in order successfully execute the relevant project in line with Project Schedule, Budget, Safety and Risk targets. As the key client interface at the worksite, this role will provide safety, environmental and quality assurance oversight, supervision, and field verification of the contractor delivery activities for the relevant project. This is a site-based role working on a 2:1 roster with options of DIDO or FIFO into Wagga Wagga.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Visibly promote Inland Rail safety values, leading by example.Assist Inland Rail Project Management Team in the review, acceptance and implementation of all Workplace Health and Safety Documentation for the project.Work collaboratively with the Contractor, and the Inland Rail Project Management Team to develop and maintain a strong safety culture, with open communication and reporting of issues.Assist the Possessions Manager to complete Activity Planning and Sequencing with nominated contractor.Assist the Engineering & Design Manager to undertake constructability review with engineering and contractors (safety in design, temporary work requirements)Assist the Delivery Team to identify construction methodologies that provide Inland Rail with the best value and reduced construction time and cost.Assist the Inland Rail Project Management Team to interface with Inland Rail & ARTC resources to ensure all material deliveries are completed on time, for all material free issued by Inland Rail.Assist the Inland Rail Project Management Team to review and manage project schedules to identify progress, lead times and project sequences with contractor.Assist the Inland Rail Project Management Team in monitoring construction productivity via schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance, assist in producing recovery plans with contractor where required and reviewing resourcing.Provide weekly progress reporting to assist with the assessment and approval of contractor's progress claims. About you

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

Relative qualification with significant relevant experience working on Major Projects.Experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil and/or structures.Knowledge of or an awareness of work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.Experience in the administration and management of delivery of capital works projects.Ability to work in an organised, well-ordered manner.Highly developed written and oral communication skill and presentation skillsHighly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated commercial acumen.Driver's license - Class C.
