Earn some money over the November to January period in the heart of Newcastle with this Engineering giant!
This true giant of Engineering is gearing up for a major shutdown project right here in Newcastle. The project will run from mid November to mid January and will require 2 x Construction Site Supervisors (Mechanical) to supervise tasks and trades.
The shutdown is planned to allow the replacement of the existing DC motors with a single 5 MW high voltage AC motor. The non-electrical scope includes replacement of the structure supporting the motor, installation of cooling water piping, structural work to increase the size of the existing transformer compound including changes to impacted stormwater drains, modification to switch room mezzanine floor to accept the control panels and structural work to support cable trays for electrical services.
Commencement of work will be mid to late November as you prepare to commence the shutdown and get your supervision, authorisations and inductions completed and become familiar with the environment. For this initial 2-4 week period you will do 8 hour days.
The shutdown will run from 20 December to 15 January and run across two 10 hour shifts 6 am to 4 pm and 4 pm to 2 am. No work on public holidays and Sunday, but otherwise 6 x 10 hr shifts per week. We require one day shift mechanical task supervisor and one night shift mechanical task supervisor. The roles will report to the senior project manager.
Our ideal people will have: High level experience in Heavy Industry or Manufacturing from sites such as Orica, Tomago Aluminium, Power Stations or Mine Sites.A Trades background in a Mechanical discipline. Additional qualifications will be very highly regarded.Strong safety awareness and experience in work safety documentation (JSA, PTRA, SWMS, work permits etc) and the ability to run daily safety toolbox meetings and uphold a high standard for compliance to documented safety measures.Formal safety training in WAH or confined spaces will be highly regarded but not essential.Formal supervision experience in leading crews of up to 10 employees.A flat contractor rate will be negotiated with you prior to your commencement.
