About the role North Northamptonshire is currently on an exciting journey to transform its buildings and infrastructure.
As part of this, we are looking for a Construction Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a suite of capital construction projects or a programme of works that range from £25k to £25M.
The role will require the development of project briefs working with a variety of internal/external stakeholders - funders, services, and end users, which would then be taken through to design, specification, delivery, and finally completion.
You will lead construction projects either directly delivering smaller construction projects or managing external consultant design teams and contractor/developer delivery teams for larger projects.
These projects will be based across North Northamptonshire and will require you to attend site meetings or meetings in the office on average 2 days a week.
The role involves working on multiple projects at one time to deliver construction projects across the council for education, children's services, leisure, assets, and communities.
Key Responsibilities Construction Project Management: Either directly delivering projects or delivery of projects from brief through design and delivery.
Developing Project Briefs: Understand and interpret the council's vision for its strategic estate, particularly in education, children's services, leisure, communities, and service areas to develop project briefs/scope.
Stakeholder Management: Develop effective relationships with stakeholders and partners both internal and external to the council.
Risk & Issue Management: Develop, manage, and monitor the project risk and issues register ensuring that the risks are costed and mitigated to the lowest possible level that the council can accept.
Finance: Cost planning, developing business cases, and managing the project budget while maximizing value for money including value engineering.
Procurement: Identify, procure, and award contracts for the required professional services, surveys, other specialists, design teams, and contractors.
Leadership: Motivate and manage project teams and working groups to deliver the project outcomes.
Develop relationships internally and externally to overcome challenges and progress projects effectively.
About you The successful candidate will be agile and flexible enough to adapt, ensuring the project has flexibility within its parameters to allow for change should the strategy, regulations, or outcomes require change during the delivery of the project.
The post will be remote working; however, there is a requirement to attend the project site and Team Meetings in person as needed, anticipated to be on average 2 days a week.
You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience and possess a relevant project management qualification or equivalent alongside knowledge and experience of managing multiple and complex projects.
Experience in managing construction-related projects of varying financial levels is essential, alongside experience of successfully managing performance and providing feedback to design teams and principal contractors.
Local authority experience is key, particularly to provide knowledge of elements such as governance, approvals, and procurement processes.
