As a valued member of the team, you'd play a pivotal role in achieving our mission to harness capital and expertise to accelerate the energy transition.As the Construction and Engineering Manager reporting to the Construction, Engineering and Grid Director, you will play a critical role in managing the Construction and Engineering team through their development and delivery cycle. You will be able to manage a team through the construction of multiple renewable projects concurrently and advise on key aspects of technical due diligence for an active investment origination team. Your responsibilities will span from team management and planning to hands-on technical solutions and construction management. Construction and Engineering Management:End-to-End Project Oversight: Manage design, construction and engineering aspects of multiple renewable energy projects (solar hybrid, wind and BESS) from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards, design criteria, timelines, and budget constraints.Industry Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with contractors, technical consultants, network operators and other relevant industry stakeholders.Investment phase: Work with the investment team to provide relevant advice on project opportunities and lead technical due diligence during M&A processes.Development phase: Support development of projects through project concept design, technical and constructability insights and input into construction contract tender and negotiation.Construction phase: Manage a team of internal project managers and external construction management teams to deliver renewable energy projects safely, on time and on budget.Operations phase: Lead any works undertaken during DLP and general support with technical advice and input.2. Financial Management:Cost Control: Build cost estimates for development and ensure cost-effective project execution while maintaining quality standards.Budgeting and Revenue Generation: Prepare and manage the team budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize revenue generation.3. Team Management:Values Driven: Exemplify the Octopus values through active internal and external engagement.Team Management: Plan resource requirements to manage sustainable workloads in a dynamic business. Set clear objectives and responsibilities as well as managing career development for the growing construction and engineering team.QualificationsOutline of skills/experience required:Industry Experience: A background as a project manager or project engineer with experience managing complex renewable energy projects.Line management: Experience with direct reports including setting goals, career progression and performance management.
