This is a full-time ongoing position.The Federal Member for Forde and Chief Opposition Whip, Bert van Manen MP is looking for a highly motivated professional with experience to join his electorate office team.Primary Duties:Receiving and co-ordinating constituent enquiries including written correspondence, telephone enquiries and assisting with issues campaignsUnderstanding and ability to interpret Government Policy and LegislationLiaising with relevant Government Departments and Ministerial Offices on behalf of constituents regarding matters relating to Immigration, NDIS, Centrelink, Australian Taxation Office etcResearching and writing Ministerial representationsData entry and database managementMaintain constituent information and contact detailsRepresenting the Member in constituent meetingsActing as the first point of contact with constituents and other visitors to the officeOther duties as directed by the Office ManagerApplicants should have the following skills and experience:Effective oral and highly advanced written communication skillsProven research ability and the capacity to interpret complex material and recraft for a broader audienceWell-developed office and IT skills including Microsoft OfficeExcellent organisation ability and time management skillsStrong interpersonal skillsThe maturity to deal with members of the public who are experiencing distressExcellent attention to detailSound analytical/diagnostic skills with a proven ability to quickly identify the nature of a problem or issueExperience in a similar administrative role or previous work in a political office will be highly regardedA commencing salary between $74,095 and $86,506 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of and as compensation for reasonable additional hours of work. An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
