A bit about the role The Conservation Team manage a variety of natural areas within Wyndham including river and creek corridors, wetlands, saltmarsh, coastal reserves, and grasslands. We are passionate about enhancing ecological values while delivering an exceptional community experience within our conservation reserves.
What you'll do Protect, enhance and maintain Wyndham's conservation reservesEcological restoration works including weed control, revegetation and prescribed burningSite maintenance works including pruning, hedging, signage, fencing and litter collectionOperate and maintain equipment such as spray rigs, brush cutters, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, mowers and augersWork outdoors in a range of environments and conditionsAssist and work alongside community organisationsRepresent Wyndham City Council in accordance with our organisational valuesWhat you'll bring A qualification in conservation land management or related discipline with relevant experience; or substantial relevant experienceKnowledge of local indigenous flora and fauna, and strong weed identification skillsPrevious experience working in a team environmentCurrent Victorian Drivers LicenceA positive, flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to changeThe capacity to work both in the public eye as well as remote locationsChem cert (or equivalent) and experience using herbicidesChainsaw accreditationFirst aid & Working with Children CheckMR accreditation and experience with towing and driving on rough terrainExperience in prescribed burningBe part of something more Take a look at our job opportunities and you may be surprised at what you discover: a future-focused culture, a sense of purpose and possibility, and real opportunities to strengthen our diverse community.
