The Role
The Inclusive Employment Program is designed to provide temporary workplace opportunities and experience for local residents who face barriers to employment, for a duration of six months. To apply for this position, you must live within the City of Whittlesea municipality and identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
This dynamic position will support the Conservation Management Team in a range of duties that focus on the restoration of land at the bunjil nganga Regional Park, and where required assist Council's Aboriginal Communities with support for the future Aboriginal Gathering Place. The position will also work in partnership with Whittlesea Community Connections at Wollert Community Farm, supporting nugal biik Plants and Seeds nursery production and the nugal biik ranger programs connecting First Nations people to Country and culture through conservation and land management activities.
About you
Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to land and the environment, with a strong drive to learn more about natural and cultural land management practices. Ideally you have some previous experience working outdoors on nature-based projects, an understanding of workplace health and safety practices, you are ready to get your hands dirty, while also taking a lead role in some project planning and development for future works. You will be required to work in a small, supported team and be flexible working across a range of work sites and with different stakeholders.
