Conservation Officer

This position sits within the Marine Permits team and is part of the Great Barrier Reef Joint Field Management Program.
The position is primarily responsible for assessing applications for authorities in accordance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation associated with use and access of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, including island national parks.


The role also provides a support function to the broader Marine Permits team which includes managing the central inbox for the team and responding to permit related enquiries for the Great Barrier Reef islands and marine parks.


Please note the work locations are: Brisbane, Maroochydore, Cairns, Airlie Beach, Rockhampton or Townsville.


This Position Requires An Applicant Who Experience in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
Project management and time management skills.
Written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of protected area management and related legislation.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of interpretation and communication, and skills in applying these principles.
