We are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.Due to Navantia Australia's ongoing success in delivering specialised Engineering Services to the Royal Australian Navy, we are growing considerably and have exciting opportunities for a Configuration Technical Data Officer to join the Naval Design and Engineering Centre in its Melbourne, Docklands office. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs.As a Configuration Technical Data Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the technical data to ensure that the Configuration of the engineering office is properly registered and maintained.In this role, you will:Develop and maintain software applications related to data management and data analytics as required for data extraction purposes.Work collaboratively with the Engineering Manager, Contracted services, and Engineering team in the management and delivery of engineering changes.Support the team in maintaining effective control of the Technical Data and Engineering Change Processes.Manage approved changes to the approved Class Configuration Baseline (CBL).Provide technical data advice to the Engineering Team (platform, systems, and logistics).Undertake quality control/management and validation of hardware, firmware & software in the preparation of data loading to ensure the effectiveness and/or reliability of the system across and the engineering suites.Perform, prepare and manage as required desktop and physical audits in the identification data load and status of configured items and baseline updates as required.Provide guidance and support to engineering team on the use of the various engineering software as required.Assist the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and the Configuration Control Board (CCB) as required.As the ideal candidate, you will have:Degree or Certificate IV and on-the-job experience (Specialty in Configuration and/or Data control).Previous Defence experience is preferable.Proven skills and experience in undertaking Configuration and/or Data Management roles.Understanding of Systems Engineering, and more specifically, how Configuration / Data Management fits within Systems Engineering processes.Understanding of Configuration / Data Management processes / procedures.Knowledge in the Naval Engineering Change Process is desirable.Working knowledge in Naval systems (such as Configuration Management Tool-Unified (CMT-U) and Asset Management and Planning System (AMPS) is desirable.Working knowledge of Windchill is desirable.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.Ability to work collaboratively, but can also operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.Ability to convert engineering verbal direction to an output.Australian Citizen holding or eligible for an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance.Veterans welcome to apply.What it's like to work with Navantia Australia:Navantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.We recognise that it's our people who are our greatest asset and are committed to giving all employees the opportunity to grow their skills, gain valuable experience, develop professionally, and work on exciting diverse projects.
