This Configuration Manager supports all aspects of management analysis to facilitate version control, release management, and configuration processes. This Configuration Manager will collaborate with development and maintenance teams to ensure proper configuration management practices, handle versioning, track changes, implement workflows, handle configuration baselines, and ensure the integrity of software configurations throughout the development lifecycle.This position will allow for remote work and some travel will be required to either a Viasat Australia office, our customer location in Canberra AUS or the project site in Wagga Wagga AUS.The day-to-daySome key responsibilities of the Configuration/Data Manager are:Establishing and maintaining the configuration baseline or approved and controlled versions that serve as the baseline reference point for further development, testing, and deployment.Identifying the configuration items (CIs) such as software modules, hardware components, documents, or configurations, then assigning unique identifiers, attributes, and relationships to the CIs, and finally storing the CIs in a configuration management database (CMDB) or a configuration management system (CMS).Controlling and handling the configuration changes, implementing and carrying out a change management process, and defining how the changes are requested, evaluated, approved, implemented, tested, and documented.Employing proper configuration management tools, such as version control systems, change management systems, or configuration management software, to record, track, and monitor the changes and their impacts on the project or system.Leading and performing configuration verifications and audits to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the CM plan and program objectives.Reporting and presenting configuration information to provide the status, progress, and issues of the CM process and activities while collaborating with developers, testers, users, customers, or managers, to inform them of the configuration information, to solicit their feedback and input, and to resolve any conflicts or problems.Improving and optimising the CM process and tools by evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of the CM process and tools, using metrics, indicators, or feedback, and Identifying and implementing recommendations for improvement and optimisation in the CM process.Development and maintenance of the Program Configuration Management Plan (CMP).Maintenance of Program data.Production of reports for Program management and government partners.What you'll needA bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.A minimum of five years of experience in configuration and data management.A minimum of three years of experience with CM tools including a CMDB, CMS, or preferably both.A deep understanding of configuration management concepts, methodologies and best practice.Experience in handling export controlled data and ensuring any requirements are met.Extensive knowledge of the ASDEFCONM suite of documents.Must be an Australian citizen and have an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1) or have held one previously.What will help you on the jobStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Good communication skills to effectively communicate directly with customers when needed.Solid attention to detail and the ability to recognise when a detail does not conform to expectations.Love for consistent processes.Experience in a Defence Sustainment project.Strong sense of responsibility for completing processes successfully.EEO statementViasat is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
