About the PositionWorkCover WA is seeking to establish a pool for the position of Conciliator.
Conciliators are responsible for resolving disputes by agreement between parties to a workers' compensation dispute. In this role, you would be required on a daily basis to deal with parties who are in dispute and often represented by legal practitioners.
You need to be empathetic, understand human behaviours and find solutions to often complex disputes within the legislative framework.
As a public facing officer of the Agency, you will be required to project absolute professionalism under these circumstances.
The position undertakes a broad scope of duties, including:
Case management of workers' compensation disputes to facilitate the resolution of those disputes.Convene conciliation conferences and hold discussions with parties for the purposes of resolving workers' compensation disputes by agreement.Manage the conduct of conciliation conferences to ensure the professionalism of the proceedings and that beneficial outcomes for the parties are achieved.To be successful in this position prospective applicants should possess:Exceptional oral and interpersonal communication skills.Relevant workers' compensation knowledge and/or industry experience.Mediation, complaint resolution or other relevant qualifications and/or experience.Ability to analyse information impartially to identify issues in dispute and develop logical solutions.Ability to manage and progress a workload within strict timelines.A full statement of duties for the position can be found in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).
Appointments from the pool may be made on a fixed term or permanent basis.
Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout the Agency over the coming 12 months.
