We're pleased to invite applications for the position of Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician, to join our Hardware Engineering Group.
Based in Mawson Lakes, South Australia and reporting to the CAD Team Leader, you will design and enhance Saab's cutting-edge products, parts, and assemblies while ensuring efficiency and adherence to high-quality standards.

As part of your specific responsibilities, you will:Collaborate with Hardware Engineers to understand design requirements and limitations.Create CAD models, assemblies, and drawings to required standards (AS1100 & DEF (AUST)5085).Administer and maintain CAD/PLM systems, including managing libraries and metadata in Windchill.Conduct tolerance studies and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) practices.Support design reviews, engineering investigations, and implement Model Based Definition (MBD) practices.Stay updated on technical advancements in 3D design, CAD drafting, and PLM tools.Recommend and implement initiatives for improving CAD outcomes.About youYour skills and experience will include: Formal CAD TrainingExperience with CAD and PLM tools (preferably CREO and Windchill).Strong understanding of GD&T practices and the ability to create advanced 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.Familiarity with AS1100 and DEF (AUST) 5085 standards.The ability to manage CAD metadata, libraries, and support the entire product design lifecycle.Knowledge of design for manufacturing, especially machined and fabricated components.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and excellent communication skills.High level of personal integrity and professionalism.Exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills.As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
