About the role The Compliance Officer will conduct a range of compliance monitoring activities and inspections as authorised under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act, and other legislation administered by CAV. Requiring a degree of judgement, discretion and experience, the Compliance Officer will undertake the more complex inspections of traders as they arise, including where there is a history of previous compliance breaches, or following a complaint of specific breaches. The Compliance Officer will carry out residential tenancy investigations including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs as delegated under the Residential Tenancies Act. Further, the Compliance Officer will perform front line dispute resolution, provide business and community education and lead or coordinate CAV campaign initiatives.
The Compliance Officer role is based in the Northwest Melbourne Metropolitan Region and will outreach to other locations across the region including but not limited to Werribee, Melton and inner Melbourne as required. Key accountabilities include Assist the Regional Manager in the coordination, planning and development of compliance activities and their implementation, including the resolution of operational problems consistent with program objectives.Manage aspects of compliance and education programs under limited direction, whilst identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.Conduct a range of more complex, as well as routine, compliance activities including investigations, inspections and the preparation of reports and briefs of evidence.About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Experience in compliance/investigations operations including the planning, development and delivery of outreach activities based on business plans and policies.Demonstrated experience in the preparation of reports and the drafting of correspondence that provides clear and purposeful communication.Ability to develop and maintain productive relations with internal and external key stakeholders.Knowledge of, and/or relevant experience in legislative compliance and enforcement activities and CAV relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures OR capacity to learn and apply the knowledge, as required.A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification is desirable or be prepared to attain the qualification soon after job commencement.Mandatory requirements Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, law or other related fields are desirable.A current Victorian Driver's Licence is required.For specific responsibilities please review the attached position description.
