As one of our Compliance Officers, you will:As appropriate, exercise powers of an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2014 and support other officers to do the same.Engage directly with a range of industry stakeholders to provide accurate information and guidance on biosecurity compliance to foster a clear understanding of requirements and expectations under the Biosecurity Act 2014, and to build trust and voluntary compliance from stakeholders.Take necessary safety precautions, in accordance with sound WH&S practices, when visiting onsite premises.Undertake assessments of biosecurity compliance across a range of industry stakeholders, advising non-compliance in writing and/or verbally at their onsite premises.Undertake a preliminary risk assessment of fire ant infestation discovered onsite, seeking guidance to determine level or risk and/or non-compliance, and escalate high-risk biosecurity incidents.Exercise sound judgement in collecting data, samples and documentation from a site, seeking guidance when required, to support timely and quality decision making regarding offences under the Biosecurity Act 2013.Keep timely and accurate records of facts and findings of onsite visits in relevant paper and information technology systems.Contribute to the continuous improvement, review and implementation of sound compliance activities and practices through continual learning, participating in mentoring and actively supporting other Compliance Officers in the field.Mandatory requirements:A current unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's LicenceYou may also have:Appointment as a Queensland Biosecurity Authorised Inspector or strong knowledge of the legal requirements of an authorised officer under a relevant Act or Regulation would be highly regarded.Experience explaining compliance requirements to encourage voluntary compliance with biosecurity requirements.Excellent information, evidence gathering and analysis skills, including the ability to write up clear report/statements of fact and recommendations.The work we do is widespread and varied, but our people are united by an innate sense of purpose, and a passion to serve their fellow Queenslanders.
