About the role The Compliance Engineer role is primarily responsible for supporting the Breville Group Product Compliance Governance processes, helping to ensure that products are developed to meet compliance requirements in target markets and that product compliance is effectively maintained for the life cycle of the product. Breville's Global Product department is one of Australia's largest and fastest growing hardware and software development teams. Breville is a highly innovative, collaborative, and fun place to work, and the Compliance Engineer role will be instrumental in improving on BRG's existing Compliance processes. Key responsibilities include: Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of relevant regulations and standards applicable to BRG's products, markets, and industry. Monitoring and analysing changes in regulations and industry standards to ensure the company remains in compliance with applicable requirements. Supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with regulations and standards. Investigating the regulatory landscape and determining requirements and policy for new Markets or Technical Innovations. Working closely with product development squads and other stakeholders and Domains including Engineering, Quality, Marketing and Legal to ensure compliance is integrated into all stages of the Product Life Cycle. Coordinating with external testing laboratories, certifiers, and other partners to ensure best in class service and efficiency. Maintaining membership of regulatory groups and forums, advocating for, and influencing standards changes and regulatory outcomes. Advising Project teams in the preparation of regulatory filings, including internal releases, product registrations, certifications, and documentation maintenance. Conducting internal audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and standards. Mentoring and supporting to Project Teams on compliance-related issues and emerging requirements. Managing and maintaining ongoing certifications and homologations for products in specific markets. Staying informed about industry best practices and changes in regulatory landscapes. We're interested in hearing from people who have: Bachelor or above in an Engineering discipline or related field with electrical and mechanical knowledge essential. A minimum 3 years' experience in a Compliance role within, or servicing, the electrical appliance industry. Proficient knowledge of relevant global industry regulations, standards and directives including UL & IEC Product Safety, EMC, European Low Voltage Directive, Wi Fi, as well as Chemical, Food and Environmental Safety regulations. Knowledge and experience managing EESS, NOM, KC, CCC or other country level regulations and certifications. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Key attributes Customer focused, organised, self-directed and pro-active approach.
