Lead the change, from the frontline    Based in Brisbane or Melbourne , the Regulatory Affairs Compliance Advisor is a key role within a group responsible for regulatory compliance and related action for Shell Energy, and particularly our retail energy business.
This role will support the Regulatory Affairs Manager Regulatory and Compliance in undertaking compliance risk mitigation activities, analytical risk identification, compliance reporting and tasks, developing compliance objectives and implementing processes and procedures to support the Compliance Framework.
The role will interact extensively throughout Shell Energy B2B and B2C retail business and externally with regulators, peak industry bodies and government departments and officials.
A key responsibility of the role will be ensuring accurate and timely expert regulatory advice is provided to the business.
The role will interact extensively throughout Shell Energy and related companies, to ensure the compliance framework is adaptive to the changing environment and that a compliance culture is fostered.
Importantly the role will work with other members of the compliance team to ensure that compliance risk management is robust with adequate mitigation, monitoring and reporting tasks undertaken.
Further this will be a key role for guiding and advising the business for new and changed regulations.
With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:   Maintain a compliance and risk management framework for the business as a whole and Shell Energy's retail business, in line with the Australian Standard; Provide well informed, timely and accurate regulatory advice relating to the obligations of energy retailing for gas and electricity in the NEM, WA and related gas sectors; Support any regulatory licensing requirements applicable to Shell Energy Australia's B2B and B2C retail activities; Identify, analyse and manage regulatory issues and risks that arise from retail activities that may have an impact on the business's interests, reputation and image, working with other regulatory advisors to ensure that issues are addressed and suitable managed and that mitigation is effective; Proactively identify gaps and corrective actions that are required to maintain an effective compliance regime; Establish and maintain documentation such as registers, compliance advisory documents and internal web pages to support the Regulatory Affairs compliance function; Monitor regulatory change and assist the business in implementing regulatory change in the business, including training; Guide and advise the company on regulatory obligations and means of compliance with legislative, licence/authorisation and regulatory conditions across all parts of the business; Work with IT to scope and develop systems to support compliance and reporting obligations; Provide oversight and advice to the business in ensuring adequate documentation and processes are maintained and support the business in preparation for compliance audit, including carrying out internal audits on high risk and other areas for the business; Manage staff compliance training on key issues; Manage and respond to regulatory requests from external parties; What you'll bring    Here's what you'll need to thrive in this role:   You have a working knowledge and experience of the regulated Australian energy environment and relevant regulatory and compliance obligations including jurisdictional energy regulations, the Australian Privacy Principles and Australian Consumer Law .
You are a strategic and analytical thinker with a high level of investigative and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and an inquisitive attitude.
You have demonstrated flexibility, including an ability to respond quickly and decisively to new regulatory compliance risks.
You are highly organised with advanced time management skills.
Tertiary qualifications and relevant industry certificates/training are highly desired.
