Role The position is part-time at a .8 EFT 30.40 hrs per week (48/52). There is some flexibility with working hours. The office is open between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm. Start and finish times for office staff is negotiated. Performs and/or supervises tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. This may include the supervision and coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program. Supervision and coordination would be limited to ensuring routine tasks are performed to required standards. Input into identifying training needs and development of education support class staff within the work area or educational program becomes an important feature at range 2.
Specialised support to achieve specific outcomes is a feature of range 2. Typically this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the operation of a work area (e.g. managing the day to day operation of a school office) under the direction of the principal or another senior manager.
Provides support to teachers and students that is beyond the routine support provided at education support class Level 1, range 1. Within an educational program assists teachers with the coordination of the support function, such as directing/organising the work of other support staff or providing a specialist support role. 
Undertakes medical intervention support tasks or other specialised student/teacher support roles that require specific training that must be updated from time to time. The role is for a specific purpose for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.
Performs technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science and information technology laboratories would be typical examples.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities The role encompasses administrative support in relation to school compliance, communication and the use of Compass to support the planning and running of a range of school-based events.
The role provides administrative support to the Additional Needs program within the School.
The role provides administrative and financial support to the PE Faculty within the School.
Undertake other duties as directed by the Principal.
School Compliance and Communication Update school policies in consultation with Assistant Principal. Maintain register of policies outstanding for review. Manage the Compass School Calendar in consultation with the Assistant Principal. Work with the Assistant Principal in relation to school OH&S related matters. Review and develop processes for online dissemination of information to staff and the school community in consultation with Assistant Principal.  School Website/ Newsletter/ Handbook/ Sharepoint/ Teams/ Compass Newsfeed Create events for Performance Space bookings to ensure clear oversight of the space across the School. Additional Needs Program Each term set up new templates, e.g. SSG meeting schedule and excel documents for tracking teacher report returns and meeting minutes distributed. Each term set up and close conference cycles on Compass for each fortnightly group. Each term file all the previous terms SSG documents for all students. Per SSG group/ cycle Request progress reports from teachers and follow up with reminders. Send out Compass notifications to parents to book appointment, an email reminder, then follow-up with phone call to book appointment. Print and compile reports (4-6 subjects per student). Ensure folders are complete for SSG meeting (2 copies of all teacher reports, a student self-feedback form and last term¿s minutes are to be in each student¿s folder) Send minutes and collated reports after SSG meeting to families, then to teachers and the Additional Needs team PE Faculty (includes PE/Sport/Volleyball and Outdoor Education) Create Compass events for excursions/ events/ camps. Create purchase orders for excursions/ events/ camps. Manage permission/payment prior to events. Book buses, entry tickets, facilities, and campsites for excursions/ events/ camps. Coordinate team entries to events. Coordinate quotes and booking of accommodation, buses and catering for any annual interstate sport tournaments. Personal Qualities Highly developed oral and written language skills. A strong capacity for high level organisation.  A high commitment to a professional work ethic. A high level of technical skills across a range of platforms including Compass, Teams, Sharepoint and microsoft office products. A strong ability to manage self across a range of situations. Empathy and understanding when dealing with concerns and queries from members of the school community. An ability to project manage small projects. High level skill in working as an effective team member, both with senior Executive Team and also with members of the office staff. Additional Information
Sound knowledge of Department of Education administrative systems including Cases and Compass.
