D'Arcy Weil is representing a leading Australian law firm with a distinguished reputation in complex litigation and dispute resolution. With offices across Australia, they are dedicated to providing exceptional legal services and achieving successful outcomes for their clients.
Our client is seeking an experienced Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution Associate with 4-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their Melbourne office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex disputes across all court jurisdictions in Victoria, collaborating with a team of highly skilled legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Manages a varied caseload of complex litigation matters across all court jurisdictions in Victoria and various tribunals. Conducts legal research, drafts pleadings, submissions, and court documents, and prepares for court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations. Assists in the strategic management of client relationships, providing timely and practical legal advice, and negotiating settlements where appropriate. Analyzes legal issues, identifies risks, and develops creative solutions to achieve favorable outcomes for clients. Works collaboratively with partners, senior associates, and support staff to develop case strategies, manage workflow, and meet client expectations. Participates in business development activities, including client pitches, networking events, and industry seminars, to contribute to the growth and success of the firm. Prepares and delivers training sessions to junior lawyers and support staff on legal developments and best practices in complex litigation and dispute resolution. Conducts due diligence reviews for potential clients and assists in the preparation of fee proposals and engagement letters. Liaises with external experts, consultants, and counsel as necessary to support case preparation and presentation. Assists in the development and implementation of internal processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality of service delivery in the complex litigation and dispute resolution practice.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Laws from a reputable Australian institution. Admission to practice law in Victoria. 4-5 years of PQE in complex litigation and dispute resolution, with a strong understanding of all court jurisdictions in Victoria. Demonstrated experience managing complex disputes, including commercial litigation, administrative law matters, and regulatory investigations. Excellent legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and stakeholders. Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
