About the role
The Compensation Advocate provides advice and assistance directly to our members, their families and the wider military community in relation to a range of claims and appeals matters with the Departments of Veterans Affairs as well as responsive immediate welfare support.
This is a permanent full-time position that will be based in Bundaberg . At times, appointments with clients may be required outside of the office location.

Known as Compensation Advocates, these roles support current and ex-serving Veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs claims process.
Key responsibilities of the role include (but not limited to):
Prepare and submit compensation claims under supervision. Work within legislative and policy guidelines to document claims from Veterans. Case Coordination - manage and update client files using record management systems, ensuring data quality and accuracy. Demonstrated complex problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proven experience in learning, interpreting and applying complex legislation. Effective case management skills in a high-volume work environment. Demonstrated ability to follow process, policy, legislation and remain confidential. Demonstrated effective written communication and interpersonal skills in working directly with Veterans and their families. Quick learner with excellent feedback acceptance. Ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for clients is essential. A team member who will uphold our values and complement our culture and way of working. an understanding of the defence community and its unique challenges is desirable. A current driver's license is required. Backgrounds that translate well to this space can include claims management (workers compensation and injury management).
