Requirement: After hours communication in case of emergency
Position Description: The purpose of this role is to facilitate community development initiatives and collective solutions within a community to address issues, needs and problems associated with recreation, health, housing, employment, and other welfare matters.
A community worker is responsible for engaging with local communities to identify and address social issues, providing support and resources to community members and facilitating programs that promote community well-being and development.
Main tasks: Researching and analysing community issues, needs and problems.Developing, evaluating, and maintaining community resources and programs.Evaluating data and writing reports such as submissions requesting funding for continuing programs and new projects.Identifying issues of local need, concerns, and aspirations through community consultation.Organising local sporting, cultural and recreational events, and activities.Providing support while exploring alternatives with clients who experience difficulties.Assessing risks and providing intensive short-term crisis counselling for victims of domestic violence, child abuse, disasters, and other crises.Assisting to establish and administer neighbourhood houses, community groups, employment training programs, and other services.Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government and business regarding community issues.Assessing community needs and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment and training.Promoting awareness of available resources to the local community.Encouraging connections and networking within the community.Encouraging people to take leadership of community initiatives.Working with community groups to develop and implement long term plans.Helping community groups apply for government funding and encourage them to set up partnerships.Setting up and maintaining local community projects and reporting on their progress.Required Qualities: Professional ApproachAbility to work under pressureOrganisational and time management skillsExcellent attention to detailDesired competencies: Analytical thinkingInitiativeTenacityStrategic thinkingPositive approach to changeQualifications: Diploma in community services or related disciplineCurrent First Aid CertificationCurrent NSW Working with Children CheckNational Police Criminal History Report with an acceptable outcomeNSW Driver's LicenseComprehensive Car InsuranceNDIS Workers Screening CheckNDIS Induction ModuleNDIS Workers Orientation Module: Quality Safety and YouCovid – 19 Training: Infection, Prevention, and ControlCovid-19 Digital Vaccination CertificateExperience: Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar roleExperience writing support letters and case reports to monitor participant progressExperience in working with persons of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander or other culturally and Linguistically diverse backgroundsExperience delivering services to children, young people and adultsKnowledge of continuous quality improvement principlesKnowledge: Basic Knowledge of computer for documentationSkills & Competencies: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated ability to manage a caseload efficiently and effectivelyAdvanced written and verbal communication skillsAbility to empathize with participantsAbility to leverage internal and external resources as part of a participant support planExcellent Communication skillsStrong time management and ability to prioritiseExcellent problem solving and conflict management skillsPersonal attribute: Professional approach (essential)Confident Manner (essential)Positive approach to change (essential)Other: Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (essential/desirable)Clean Driving License (essential/desirable)If this position sounds like you, apply online now!
