We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.About the roleAs a community support worker, you will provide one on one, individualised outreach support to people with a mental health diagnosis within their own homes as well as assisting them in accessing relevant services within the Esperance area.The successful candidate will be passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacy, have confidence in working autonomously and a strong understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health issues. This is a casual role with short 2 hour shifts available across Monday to Saturday.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individualised support, helping to establish routine and structure.Assist in establishing and maintaining appropriate accommodation.Coach and mentor consumers in day-to-day life skillsActively participate in recreational, educational, and culturally appropriate supportsSupport consumers to develop their support plans in partnership key stakeholders.Collaborate with consumers and other supports to coordinate the delivery of services.Monitor and maintain accurate case notes, up to date case plans and files.Observe and record the client's behaviour, needs and interactions with others.Skills & ExperienceCertificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health or similarUnrestricted drivers' licenceAccess to a reliable car (with minimum third-party property insurance)Experience working with people with mental illness or psycho-social disability Passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacyHigh computer literacy and administration skillsCurrent First Aid CertificateSuccessful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
